hen Georges C. St. Laurent Jr. first saw the wildlife sculptures of Bruce Killen, he was so impressed by their exquisite detail and striking, lifelike form that he had to meet the artist. The two men shared unbounded creative energy and a deep respect for the grace and power of nature. Together, they decided to create a series of sculptures that captured the splendor of wildlife. These sculptures were to become the world's largest and most unique pure silver exhibit: The Georges St. Laurent Collection.

To cast the collection's first piece, many obstacles had to be overcome. New tools and techniques had to be devised to accommodate the peculiar properties of silver as it is heated and cooled. More than four months after it's casting began, the first sculpture, "Spirit of Aquila," was complete. A magnificent tribute to a threatened species, this spectacular life-sized eagle is the largest modern sculpture ever cast in pure silver.

Like "Spirit of Aquila," each of the collection's sculptures presented structural and artistic challenges. Throughout the project, vision and innovation prevailed. When the collection was complete, more than one-half ton of pure silver had been transformed into breathtaking works of art. We think you'll agree, the Georges St. Laurent Collection captures the magnificent beauty of wildlife in a medium that is both precious and enduring.
